Scenes in the Life of Harriet Tubman (1869)

[Nonfiction]

World War I

Scenes in the Life of Harriet Tubman is as close as anyone will get to having an autobiographical account of the life of one of the most heroic human beings to have ever lived in the nineteenth century during pre-Civil War America. With the help of noted writer and historian, Sarah H. Bradford, Tubman reconstructs her exciting but dangerous quest helping escaped slaves make their way to freedom in Canada. Extremely popular when first published in 1869, various editions of the original remain in print today. Bradford died in June 1912 and Tubman passed away less than a year later in March 1913.
