Life and Times of Lucy G. Thurston is an exciting account of travels to the Hawaiian Islands in the early part of the nineteenth century by New England missionaries. Following the dream set forth by Henry Obookiah, a Hawaiian youth, Thurston and her husband, fellow missionary, Asa Thurston, set out to brave the Pacific Ocean in order to reach the Hawaiian Islands and fulfill Obookiah’s quest to bring religion to his people. Compiled and edited by her daughter, Persis Thurston Taylor, a gifted artist, these writings bring back to life a time long gone, but of which much life was lived. Thurston spent the remainder of her life in the Hawaii and generations of her descendants still reside there today. She is buried (along with many members of her extended family) at Oahu Cemetery in the hills just above the city of Honolulu. This edition published in 1921 has additional material by her grandson, Lorrin A. Thurston, as well as photographs not included in the original edition.
