A Journal of the Voyages and Travels of a Corps of Discovery was the first published version of the adventures and experiences from the Lewis and Clark Expedition led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. The journal kept by Patrick Gass was edited and corrected by David McKeehan, a schoolteacher and bookstore owner who befriended Gass after the Expedition ended. First published in 1807, the journal went through many editions over the years. The remaining journals kept during the Expedition by other members was eventually published in edited versions and varying formats by select editors and scholars.
